IS THIS THE RIGHT FIT?
You might be in exactly
the right place if…
The people who tend to thrive in this work share a few things in common - not necessarily a diagnosis, but an overall feeling.
You've been high-functioning your whole life and are quietly exhausted by the effort it takes
You want to understand why you are the way you are, not just manage it.
You're starting to recognize patterns in relationships, in anxiety, in the way you show up, and you're ready to trace them back to their roots
You're done white-knuckling your way through it all and are ready to actually feel different
You overthink, over-give, or over-achieve, and it never quite feels like enough
You've tried therapy before and it felt too surface-level, too prescriptive, or like you were doing all the work alone
You're curious about yourself, even when what you find is uncomfortable
The gap between how you appear to the world and how you actually feel has never been wider, and you're tired of maintaining it
AREAS OF FOCUS
Where We Do the Work
Every specialty below is a different doorway into the same deeper work of understanding yourself and changing the patterns that have kept you stuck.
01
Anxiety Therapy
For the overthinker, the perfectionist, the one who's always braced for something to go wrong even when everything looks fine from the outside. We'll work on what's actually driving the anxiety, not just how to turn the volume down temporarily.
03
Life Transitions Therapy
For the moments when life shifts faster than your sense of self can catch up - a new role, a loss, a relationship change, or simply arriving at midlife wondering how you got here and who you are now. Transitions don't have to feel like free-fall.
02
Unresolved Trauma Therapy
For those carrying wounds that never fully healed, whether or not what happened to you "looks like" trauma. We'll work gently and deliberately to process what's been stuck, so it stops quietly running the show.
04
Young Adult Therapy (17+)
For the emerging adult navigating college, identity, relationships, and the pressure to have it all figured out, often while appearing completely fine. This is a space to fall apart a little... safely... so you can come back together in a way that actually fits.
05
Therapy for Cycle-Breakers
For the one trying to do things differently - who sees the patterns, feels the weight of them, and is determined not to continue replicating them or pass them on. This work honors how hard it is to break from what you know, and helps you build something new.
READY TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP?
A free 15-minute consultation is the lowest-stakes way to find out if we're a good fit. No commitment, no pressure, just a conversation.
HOW WE WORK
A Depth-Focused
Approach to Lasting Change
This isn't a one-size-fits-all practice. The tools we use depend on you: what's happened, how you're wired, and what your nervous system needs in order to actually shift.
At the foundation, this work is psychodynamically informed, meaning we look at the whole picture including your history, your relational patterns, and the stories you've been carrying, often without even realizing it.
Layered-in are evidence-based approaches to help you build skills, challenge the thoughts that keep you stuck, and - when talk therapy reaches its limits - go deeper into the body and nervous system to process what words alone can't reach.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Exploring the roots of your patterns, defenses, and emotional life... not just the surface.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Identifying and restructuring the thought patterns that drive anxiety, avoidance, and self-doubt.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
Challenging the core beliefs underneath your reactions - the ones that feel like facts but aren't.
EMDR Therapy
A structured, evidence-based approach for processing traumatic memories and stuck emotional experiences when talk therapy plateaus.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
A brief, effective modality for resolving distressing memories and trauma symptoms often with rapid results.
THE SETTING
A Space that Feels the Way You're Meant to Feel
In-person sessions are held in a restored barn in Southport, CT — a boutique, thoughtfully curated space where every detail was chosen with intention. Not a sterile office, not a generic waiting room. Something closer to an exhale.
The space is a physical expression of the work itself: warm, grounded, elevated, and safe. A place where high-achieving people who are used to being "on" can finally be off.

Who You'll Be Working With
ABOUT YOUR THERAPIST
Angelina Miceli, LCSW
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with years of experience working with anxiety, trauma, and the kind of deep, persistent patterns that don't respond to surface-level solutions. Before opening my private practice in Southport, I served as a Clinical Director which means I've trained and supervised other therapists, evaluated clinical work, and spent a long time thinking carefully about what actually helps people change.
I work best with people who are self-aware enough to know something needs to shift and brave enough to look at why. Whether you're a high-achieving professional who's always had it together, a young adult trying to figure out who you are, or someone who's tired of carrying patterns you didn't choose, this is the kind of work I was built for.
My approach is warm and direct, occasionally irreverent, and always in your corner. I'll challenge you - not because I'm tough, but because I respect you too much to let you off easy when easy doesn't get you where you want to go.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before You Reach Out
How do I know which type of therapy is right for me?
Honestly, you don't have to know, that's part of what the first few sessions help us figure out together. Most people come in with one presenting concern (anxiety, a difficult transition, relationship stress) and discover that several things are connected. Browse the specialty pages above if something resonates, but trust that a good therapist will help you find the right thread to pull.
Do you take insurance?
I'm an out-of-network, private pay provider. Many clients have out-of-network benefits through their insurance plans that reimburse a significant portion of session fees. If you would like to pursue that, I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit directly to your insurer. Visit the Fees & Investment page for full details, or call your insurance company and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first session.
I've done therapy before and it didn't really help. What makes this different?
This comes up a lot. Often when therapy hasn't worked, it's because it stayed too surface-level and focused on coping skills without ever looking at what's underneath them. My approach is depth-oriented by design. We're not just managing symptoms; we're looking at the patterns, the history, and the beliefs driving them. That's slower work, but it's the kind that actually sticks.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on the work. Some people come in with a specific issue and a clear focus. That process might look like several months. Others are doing deeper excavation work that unfolds over a year or more. I'm transparent about this from the beginning and we'll check in regularly on your progress and goals. The timeline is always in service of your growth, not a predetermined endpoint.
Do you offer in-person sessions, virtual sessions, or both?
Both. In-person sessions are held at my office in Southport, CT which is a private, boutique space designed to feel nothing like a clinical office. Virtual sessions are available via a secure telehealth platform for residents of Connecticut, Vermont, and South Carolina. Some clients mix both depending on their schedule and what a given week calls for.
What's a free consultation and what should I expect?
It's a brief, no-pressure 15-minute phone call. A chance to tell me what's bringing you in, ask any questions you have, and get a feel for whether we'd work well together. I'll be direct with you about whether I think I'm the right fit. If I'm not, I'll help point you in a better direction. There's no commitment involved.
Do you work with men?
Absolutely. While my practice centers high-achieving, anxious, self-aware people broadly, some of my most meaningful clinical work has been with insightful men who are ready to go deeper than the surface and are willing to do so in a space that doesn't require them to perform strength or certainty. If you're here, you're in the right place.
I'm not sure I'm "bad enough" to need therapy. Is that okay?
Yes, and you'd be surprised how often I hear this. Therapy isn't reserved for crisis. Many of the people I work with are functioning well by any external measure, but they're just tired of working so hard to do it, and they sense that there's more available to them. You don't have to be falling apart to deserve support. You just have to be willing to look.
